First Phase Garden Development
We are working with the new owners of this listed cottage in a Conservation Area within the South Downs National Park. The previous owner adored her garden, and it is planted with some lovely specimen trees including a weeping ash and a white mulberry, plus several old fruit trees, all planted by the lady some 50 years ago! The property and garden have been vacant for some years, with the garden falling into decline. Luckily, the new owners are appreciative and sensitive to the history of the garden and its setting within a beautiful location at the foot of the South Downs.
Phase 1 for the Lady P team is to thin out one overgrown boundary of the garden, clearing self-seeded saplings and crown lifting some mature yew trees. Already, we can see that at least 10 extra metres of garden have been found. This area will be maintained and developed as a wild area of the garden for the four young children to explore, climb and investigate bug hotels and the like.
Phase 2 will be after renovation of the cottage in 1-2 years time, and will include an entirely new garden design.
