Estate and Garden Care
We are proud to care for many privately-owned country house gardens and estates, for whom we provide a wide-ranging multi-skilled service. The care and support we offer includes horticulture and garden management, long-term development and restoration projects, new planting schemes, design and soft-landscaping, meadow and habitat creation and management and tree surgery.
A larger garden involves a long-term financial investment, but when you invest in your garden by engaging with us, we invest too: our expertise, time, experience, love, care and long-term vision. We do not maintain (gardens are not static!) - we nurture, grow, evolve and respect your garden with our ongoing commitment. We take time to get to know you and your garden, and together bring to life our combined ideas.
We are experienced in the understanding and implementation of Conservation Management Plans, Historic Landscape Surveys and Ecological Surveys and able to undertake long term work over many years. We are experienced operators in registered historic parks and gardens and in other designated areas, such as SSSI’s and are based within the South Downs National Parks Authority. Where needed, we work closely with conservation bodies such as the Wildlife Trusts, Natural England and The South Downs National Park Authority, for example on conservation projects or long-term management plans.
If your garden is already fabulous but needs regular tending or in need of a rescue remedy to bring it back to life, our services can be tailored to you. You may require a fully comprehensive programme of regular visits or a long-term schedule of improvements over many years, but whatever your needs our personal approach means you will benefit from bespoke advice from a professional, knowledgeable team so your garden will be at its best whatever the season.
So, is your garden or estate suitable for Lady Penelope? Our specialism is to work alongside the larger garden owner, be it a private country garden, small estate, or a larger historic private estate with our key client requiring ongoing horticultural and estate management, and long-term development of the garden. But we also relish a one-off project which could be a conservation driven project, new border or planting design, meadow creation, ponds and habitats. Our focus is gardening for ecology and wildlife …. but what exactly is gardening for ecology.
