Tanya is the driving force of this lovely country garden which we have been caring for regularly for the past 5 years, and includes ongoing development.
In Spring 2018, Tanya designed a stumpery in what was an under-used, shady area which for years had struggled to be much more than ‘scrappy’. Tanya’s excellent idea, and we were delighted that our clients were equally excited, was to create a stumpery in the area and it’s proved to be a huge success, much admired by all who visit. The hardwood stumps were sourced and selected from the Leconfield Estate (Petworth House) with the wonderful help of Head Forester, Neil.
Tanya designed a planting scheme using woodland plants, or those that prefer shade, such as foxgloves, ferns, astrantia, alchimella, Bergenia and a host of spring bulbs. The area already contained a host of spring bulbs including snowdrops and anemones, and these were lifted and re-used throughout the scheme, including other happy self-seeders such as primroses and aquilegia.
